Is The Makeup Eraser Good For Your Skin

Information technology sounds too good to be truthful: a cloth that removes ALL your makeup without the use of cleanser or chemicals, just water.

And then yeah, nosotros were very skeptical of the MakeUp Eraser's claims, just fully prepared to be proved incorrect.

WTF is information technology?

MakeUp Eraser

Promising to make your life easier past saving you time (and money on cleansers), the MakeUp Eraser is designed to remove even waterproof mascara and eyeliner, HD makeup and lipstick with water alone.

The soft cloth doesn't look or feel that special – especially for its £17 price tag – but it's made from a specially knitted polyester/silk fibre which, when wet, creates a hydro-mechanical procedure that breaks the surface tension of the oils that bond makeup to the peel. Clever, huh?

It'southward machine washable (it blimmin' needs to be) and lasts more than 1,000 washes.

Does it really work?

In the name of the Cosmo Dazzler Lab, I took the new baby blue version into my bathroom after an afternoon testing the new Marc Jacobs makeup range (it'south a hard life). The gel middle crayon I was wearing equally heart shadow was waterproof and although it looks lightweight, the total-coverage foundation I had on contains twice as much paint as a leading full-coverage foundation.

I wet the MakeUp Eraser with warm water and rubbed my skin with information technology, trying to be as gentle as I could. To my surprise it really melted away my eye shadow and mascara swifter than some centre makeup removers, and the foundation/chroma/brows were a doddle to dissolve.

With half of my makeup 'erased' (soz about the non-pro lighting…)

Once all my makeup appeared to be off my face and on the cloth, I tested how well it had really worked by using some micellar cleanser on a cotton wool pad.

Equally you'll run into in that location was merely minimal residue of my foundation left which the cleanser mopped up. So aye, information technology does piece of work.

The cleanser test

Would we recommend it?

As a dazzler editor I'd never say chuck out your cleansers, every bit they tin benefit your skin for specific reasons.

At the moment, while suffering from constant hormonal breakouts, I am using a purifying, antibacterial cleanser with ingredients that decongest the pare, notwithstanding when my skin is dull and dry I switch to a gentle formula that hydrates while melting makeup. Nonetheless, the MakeUp Eraser should suit all skin types in its simplicity.

The theory goes that the cleansing procedure promotes healthy peel because information technology does not affect its natural acid mantle. So if yous really struggle to find a cleanser your skin type gets on with, this could be an constructive alternative selection.

It's too a peachy idea for festivals and travelling, when carrying heavy cleansers is a ballache.

A warning though, hygiene could become an issue. We'd recommend washing the MakeUp Eraser betwixt every use to foreclose spreading bacteria around your face up – peculiarly important if yous endure from spots. And then if you don't take time to wash it every dark (who would?), you'd need 2 or iii on rotation.

Now, nosotros'll allow y'all do the maths on the coin you'd potentially spend and save…
